Zador leads a lean legal team of three, supplemented by contractors and outside counsel for specialized needs and support. Her leadership style emphasizes early engagement, with legal integrated into business conversations from the outset rather than introduced at the end.

“Legal should be involved early and often to reduce friction, avoid rework, and shape compliant, effective products,” Zador says.

This approach reflects her belief that legal teams perform best when aligned with business objectives and embedded in workflows. From contract negotiation to product design, her goal is to accelerate execution while ensuring risk is properly managed.

Her mindset is rooted in a builder mentality, focused on creating frameworks that evolve with the organization.

“I see myself as a builder who enjoys creating systems and frameworks that support long-term growth,” she says.

Zador’s expertise is particularly evident in strategic partnerships, which she considers one of the most engaging aspects of her role. “Partnerships require careful planning around onboarding, sales support, customer experience, and exit strategies,” Zador says.

The employee benefits space adds another layer of complexity, with an ecosystem that includes employers, brokers, consultants, carriers, and end users. Her work often involves translating complex regulatory and contractual requirements into practical guidance that business teams can act on, helping reduce friction while maintaining a strong compliance posture.

Her background in SaaS enables her to navigate legal, operational, and customer-facing considerations, crafting solutions that balance usability and risk. This perspective also informs her interest in AI governance.

“AI governance is one of the most exciting areas right now,” Zador says.

She approaches the topic pragmatically, emphasizing intentional adoption that aligns with both regulatory expectations and customer needs.

Zador joined PlanSource in August 2024 as part of a newly assembled executive team, allowing her to help shape the company’s culture and operating model. She highlights the leadership team as a key differentiator, emphasizing alignment, trust, and shared commitment. “The leadership team operates with trust and shared goals, and that makes a huge difference in how we execute,” Zador says.

That emphasis on teamwork aligns with Zador’s own leadership philosophy. She sees her role as elevating those around her.

“I love leading a team, inspiring people, and bringing out the best in my colleagues,” Zador says.

She also emphasizes the importance of relationships across the organization and within the broader legal community.

As PlanSource continues to evolve, she remains focused on building a legal function that not only protects the organization but also contributes to its success. How she sees things

Zador’s interest in law began early, influenced by her father, a trust officer who introduced her to wills and trusts. Reviewing documents together gave her an appreciation for how legal work can impact people’s lives and their legacies.

She earned a business degree from John Carroll University and a JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Early in her career, she focused on trademarks, copyrights, and technology transactions, building a foundation that would shape her approach to problem-solving.

After starting in private practice at DLA Piper, she moved in-house, drawn to the opportunity to work closer to the business. She spent more than a decade at SolarWinds, eventually serving as associate general counsel, before moving into general counsel roles at emerging growth companies.

She has long viewed herself as someone inclined to lead rather than follow.

That inclination toward leadership, supported by strong mentorship, helped guide her progression. She continues to rely on a network of advisors and peers, including a group of female general counsel in the Research Triangle area who meet regularly to share insights and support each other and their growth.

Her decision to join PlanSource was driven by both the company’s model and its leadership. The combination of technology and service delivery aligned with her experience, while the opportunity to build during a period of transformation offered a compelling challenge.

Outside of work, Zador balances family life with three children and maintains a routine that includes early morning Pilates and weekend soccer.

Looking ahead, she sees continued opportunity to evolve how legal teams operate within technology companies as emerging technologies reshape expectations around speed, transparency, and customer experience.
