Stephanie Fuller – BRG

Turning relationships into results

Stephanie Fuller has built her career on the premise that relationships, when cultivated with intention and follow-through, become the most valuable currency in business. As a managing director at BRG, she operates at the intersection of litigation strategy and business development, serving as a connector between attorneys and the expert witnesses who can help shape the outcome of complex cases. Her role requires both precision and intuition, balancing technical demands with a human understanding of clients’ needs in high-stakes environments.

“You need to be prepared to play the long game in this industry. The time needs to be invested to build the relationships,” Fuller says.

That long-game mindset has defined her career. In an industry where trust is earned over years rather than transactions, Fuller has distinguished herself not through legal credentials but through persistence, curiosity, and a disciplined approach to client service. She is not an attorney, yet she has become a trusted advisor to many.

A strategic connector in a complex field

At BRG, a global consulting firm known for providing economic, financial, and expert testimony services in litigation and regulatory matters, Fuller’s role centers on aligning attorneys with the right expertise at the right time. The work requires a deep understanding of the nuances of each case, plus knowledge about the different BRG practice areas, so she can present the most applicable experts to her clients.

“I had to learn it on my own by listening to my clients very carefully,” Fuller says.

Her process is methodical. She listens, asks questions, and translates complex legal needs into actionable strategies. Over time, she has developed the ability to anticipate what attorneys will require before they fully articulate it.

“I know enough now to ask the appropriate questions and understand the litigation lifecycle,” Fuller says.

Her ability to operate at that level has required an intentional investment in learning. Early in her career, she faced limitations in certain conversations. Rather than allowing that to become a barrier, she compensated by preparing, organizing, and demonstrating a strong work ethic.

Earning trust without a law degree

Fuller’s entry into litigation consulting was unconventional. After graduating from the University of Houston’s Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, she began her career in corporate hotel sales in Boston. The role provided foundational experience in client engagement and relationship building.

Her transition into litigation consulting in 2002 came with little formal preparation. She started at the bottom, making cold calls and navigating an unfamiliar industry.

“I am pleasantly persistent,” Fuller says.

That persistence became a defining trait. She developed a system for tracking opportunities and following up with precision. If a client mentioned a possible need months in advance, she would re-engage at exactly the right time.

Her early years were marked by long days, frequent meetings, and a willingness to do the unglamorous work required to build a network. Over time, those efforts compounded into a strong professional network and a reputation for reliability.

The absence of a law degree, while initially a disadvantage, ultimately became a differentiator. Fuller approached each interaction with a learner’s mindset, asking questions and seeking clarity.

Building a career on relationships

Fuller’s approach to business development is rooted in consistency and authenticity. She understands that trust is built through repeated demonstrations of reliability and integrity.

For more than 15 years, she has hosted an annual women’s shopping and networking event in Houston. What began as a small gathering has evolved into a signature event that supports women-owned businesses and fosters meaningful connections.

The event reflects Fuller’s belief that business relationships are strongest when they are grounded in genuine connection. By creating a relaxed environment where clients and colleagues can interact outside of traditional settings, she has reinforced her role as both a connector and a community builder.

“This industry has afforded me so much flexibility and independence,” Fuller says.

That flexibility has allowed her to build a career that aligns with both her professional ambitions and personal priorities. Working remotely long before it became commonplace, she has maintained a level of autonomy that reflects the trust leadership has placed in her.

Driven by values & looking ahead

Fuller’s work ethic and professional philosophy are deeply rooted in her upbringing. Raised by parents who owned their own businesses, she was exposed early to the realities of entrepreneurship and accountability.

“Either own your own business or be in business development,” her father often told her.

That guidance has remained a constant. Even today, she works at the same desk that once belonged to her father, a reminder of the values he imparted.

Her path to BRG was not linear. As a former biology major who ultimately earned a business degree from the University of Houston, she explored multiple directions before finding her footing. After her early career in hospitality, she worked in an IT consulting role, each step adding to her understanding of people, systems, and client needs.

She joined BRG in 2014 after more than a decade of business development experience, including litigation consulting, bringing with her a refined approach to relationship management and a deep appreciation for the long-term nature of the work. Over time, she has grown into a leadership role defined by consistency and trust.

Fuller remains driven by a competitive instinct and a desire to continue improving. She studies her performance, reflects on opportunities, and approaches each new engagement with the same energy that defined her early years.

Her passion for international travel provides perspective and reinforces her appreciation for the opportunities her career has created. Whether exploring new cities or sharing experiences with her son, she sees those moments as an extension of the life her work has made possible.

Looking ahead, Fuller’s focus remains on deepening relationships, expanding her impact, and refining her expertise. Her journey underscores that success in complex industries can be built through persistence, adaptability, and a commitment to doing right by clients. Her story ultimately circles back to the values instilled in her from the beginning, forming the foundation of a career that continues to grow, one relationship at a time.

Testimonials

It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.

The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
