Bradley Pearson – Lilium

Est. reading time: 5 mins

It takes some doing to get this aircraft off the ground, both from an engineering and commercial standpoint.  Bradley Pearson defers the engineering to others while tending to the commercial side as senior legal counsel for Lilium, the German-headquartered aerospace company that anticipates bringing to market its cutting-edge hybrid of small private jets and helicopters […]

Caroline Borushko – Comtech Telecommunications Corp.

Selling a small company that produces components and technology for satellites to foreign buyers draws scrutiny from U.S. government agencies, including the Departments of Defense, Justice and Treasury, because of national security concerns. So, the proposed 2017 sale of such a company was one of more than 200 that Caroline Borushko reviewed that year. However, […]

Rick Durden

Airliners built in Canada and flown in Spain. An American air freight company president with a vision to turn four of them into freighters. And a Federal Aviation Administration regulation that threatened to derail everything. For Rick Durden, it added up to a high-stakes challenge. How do you get an airliner from Spain to Pontiac, […]

Larissa Meli – Leonardo U.S.

Est. reading time: 5 mins

The traditional Italian adage “Lascia che la vita ti sorprenda” simply means to let life surprise you—and that’s exactly what Larissa Meli did. By 1998, she’d graduated cum laude, the maximum grade in Italy, from “La Sapienza” University of Rome’s School of Law and passed the bar exam in Rome two years later. While working […]

Lara Hajjar Ayoub – Universal Weather and Aviation

Est. reading time: 4 mins

By the time a business jet reaches a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet, many passengers are counting down to two things: landing at their destinations and the arrival of their in-flight catering. While Lara Hajjar Ayoub has little control over how quickly the pilots go “wheels down,” she does play a major role in appeasing […]

Maria Garton – Signature Aviation

Est. reading time: 5 mins

The private aviation industry has soared for most of COVID-19, many adventurers opting for the convenience and cleanliness of privately owned or chartered jets rather than the delays and discomforts of commercial flights. Signature Aviation thinks the trend will continue, and it’s well positioned to take advantage; the now U.S.-based multinational had focused on becoming […]

Juan Pablo Arguelles Siller – Fly Across

Est. reading time: 4 mins

In 2020, an airborne virus threatened to ground the entire aviation industry. The International Civil Aviation Organization details the grim scenario: a loss of 2.6 billion passengers compared to 2019, a 50 percent reduction of seats offered by airlines and a $370 billion loss of gross passenger operating revenues. Losses covered travel for both business […]

Jerry Joondeph – XOJET Aviation

Est. reading time: 4 mins

In a normal year, Jerry Joondeph would accumulate around 100,000 miles of air travel. He’d visit places around the U.S., Europe and Asia—not uncommon for a top executive at an aviation company. But the COVID-19 pandemic shut down most of his regular travel, forcing Joondeph to pivot in his roles as chief administrative officer and […]

As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
– Henry Marquard, in-house counsel, Stanley Consultants Inc.
It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.
– Kevin C. Rakowski, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Compliance with Radian Group Inc.
The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
