The worst of COVID-19 may have passed, but on goes a $100 million commitment that the world’s largest meat processor, JBS, made during the height of the pandemic.  It is called Hometown Strong and has the company’s North American division partnering with the 75 U.S. communities where JBS maintains a manufacturing presence. When he arrives, he spends his first hour taking an online course in Portuguese, the native […]

Adam Bennett – Potbelly Sandwich Shop

Est. reading time: 5 mins

It’s an ambitious growth agenda his employer pursues, but Adam Bennett can put aside the legal jargon and describe in simple terms what it all comes down to. “To make a really great sandwich, we must start at home,” he explains. And the ingredients aren’t just the breads, meats, cheeses and whatnots that go into […]

As associate general counsel for Del Monte Foods, Liliya Donovan knows she’s helping manage legal affairs for a very visible portfolio of food and beverage products. Jourdan Ball – Compass Group USA

Whether applying for an executive position or an hourly one, no one wants to spend hours reviewing a job posting and filling out an application. With the foodservices company Compass Group since 2018 and its senior corporate counsel since 2020—and applying […]

Nia Karabatsos – McCain Foods Ltd.

Est. reading time: 5 mins

It’s safe to say Nia Karabatsos didn’t earn a law degree thinking she’d one day help potato farmers grow crops more sustainably. Yet, as general counsel for the Americas for McCain Foods Ltd., she’s doing just that—helping the company promote sustainable farming practices by managing the legal details for a “farm of the future” in […]

Natalia Zuluaga Enciso – Ferrero

Appreciating a piece of chocolate is fairly straightforward: Unwrap, eat and enjoy. Natalia Zuluaga Enciso is attempting to bring this sort of simplicity to all legal matters at Ferrero. She’s been implementing “visual law,” a concept that goes beyond formatting legal documents nicely and using bright colors to highlight important warranties and indemnification clauses in […]

Stefan Schnopp – BurgerFi

Est. reading time: 4 mins

To the average customer, walking into a burger joint or pizza parlor is a simple experience. But to the people behind the scenes at BurgerFi, there’s a lot more involved than just serving someone a Swag (spicy wagyu) burger and fresh-cut fries. Just ask Stefan Schnopp, the company’s chief legal officer and corporate secretary. He’s […]

As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.
– Kevin C. Rakowski, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Compliance with Radian Group Inc.
I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
– Henry Marquard, in-house counsel, Stanley Consultants Inc.
