Features Legal Leaders

Alison Ingenito – OptimumProp

Multi-family residential property management needn’t be a heartless pursuit. So emphasizes Alison Ingenito, who backs up her claim with a slew of anecdotes, including one about keeping together a disabled veteran and his dog. That man may have taken some liberties on the housing front, Ingenito concedes. He was, after all, living in a no-pets […]

Essien Udokang – McKesson Canada

Est. reading time: 4 mins

There’s nothing like being immersed early in the inner workings of a company to make a new legal leader feel welcome. Essien Udokang says that’s how he felt upon joining pharmaceutical giant McKesson Canada in November 2018. He may have even been slightly surprised at how early he was afforded a seat at the proverbial […]

Monique Damore – Fremantle

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of game shows such as “The Price is Right” or “Family Feud,” or a talent showcase such as “American Idol” or “America’s Got Talent?” Monique Damore, vice president of business and legal affairs of Fremantle, says it takes as many as 150 people to iron out details, […]

Susan Steinthal – Mercury Financial

Est. reading time: 4 mins

The difference between a near-prime credit score and a prime credit score might not seem like much—on FICO’s credit scale, it’s a maximum of 40 points and could be as little as one point on a scale of 850. Yet the gap can be vast in terms of getting approved for credit cards and borrowing […]

Damon B. Bonesteel – Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

Est. reading time: 5 mins

There’s no business like show business, the adage goes. But at the end of the day, it’s still an industry driven by the bottom line. During his 23 years at Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., Damon Bonesteel has been focused on that and not just on the legal side. His title—senior vice president of legal and […]

John Cheek – Tenneco

Est. reading time: 5 mins

At the start of 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic began, leaders at Tenneco decided to pause a  major company restructuring. The plan had been to split the company in two and create a spinoff called DRiV Incorporated, which would have specialized in ride performance and aftermarket solutions for cars and trucks. Anthony Serventi – Bosch

Est. reading time: 4 mins

He’s been known to flash the yellow or cautionary light. If necessary, he’ll flash the red one too, although Anthony Serventi strives to avoid this outcome. As he explains, an in-house legal department must partner with the business side, albeit with prudence. That may be especially true for Serventi who’s vice president, legal counsel and […]

Sarah Boissins Ashley – Global Infrastructure Partners

Est. reading time: 5 mins

There’s much fine print to examine and numbers to add up, but the deals have nonetheless been getting sealed at Global Infrastructure Partners. Recently GIP and a joint partner, TotalEnergies, took a controlling stake in Clearway Energy Group and SunPower Corp. The former owning the fifth largest portfolio of renewable assets in the United States […]

As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
– Henry Marquard, in-house counsel, Stanley Consultants Inc.
It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.
– Kevin C. Rakowski, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Compliance with Radian Group Inc.
The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
