When the general counsel of CoreSite suggested the company publish an environmental, social and governance report in 2018, most of the team had never worked on one before. According to Todd Blair, an assistant general counsel, the general counsel had heard from law firms that the reports would soon be commonplace. So, working with leaders […]

Richard Strulson – Interior Logic Group

Est. reading time: 5 mins

Until a few years ago, staff at Interior Logic Group used a centralized email to communicate with the legal department. There were two email addresses—one for asking questions about litigation and another for questions about contracts. No one had personal contact with anyone in the department and it usually took 11 business days to get […]

Soon that mothballed refinery in Newfoundland will be fully back in business. Only it’ll be a different and much greener business for the rebranded Braya Renewable Fuels facility on the southeast corner of Maritime Canada’s fabled “The Rock.”  The newly reorganized terminal will again accept deliveries from ocean-going tankers and distribute the refined product to […]

A first generation American with Korean parents, Sara Vogt-Lowell and her mother moved apartments often as they sought better school districts and neighborhoods. But they never had the chance to move into a house, so a backyard and pets weren’t possible. Now, as chief legal officer for American Homes 4 Rent, Vogt-Lowell is helping working families […]

Sean P. Murphy – The St. James

An exercise in futility? It might have initially felt that way for Sean P. Murphy during the spring of 2020. As the new general counsel of a comprehensive sports, wellness and entertainment business in Springfield, Virginia, he submitted two applications to the federal government for Paycheck Protection Program relief. COVID-19 having forced The St. James […]

By September 2020, Verve Senior Living had undergone a transformation. Ryan J. Kretschmer – Walton Global Holdings

Est. reading time: 5 mins

Georgia’s population is growing over 14 percent annually while its housing supply lags, so there’s ample opportunity for a company to thrive while making up the difference. First things first, that means acquiring the land on which to build, which Walton Global Holdings does. Then, it sells that real estate to homebuilders with which it […]

As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
– Henry Marquard, in-house counsel, Stanley Consultants Inc.
It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.
– Kevin C. Rakowski, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Compliance with Radian Group Inc.
