Emotional intelligence is learned through self-reflection and experience. So emphasizes Hilary Dinkelspiel Dona, who considers it among her strengths as she oversees employment law at NFP, an insurance broker and consultant with 8,000 employees and growing in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland. “Emotional intelligence allows me to embrace the empathetic side […]

Emily Dimond – PNC

Est. reading time: 5 mins

Be it from the role of plaintiff or defendant, litigation is an inevitable part of PNC operating as a bank-holding and financial services corporation active in most states and internationally. Even when there’s nothing contentious between it and other entities, PNC must be ready to provide regulators with evidence of everything being done according to […]

Alan Nolley Jr. – Flynn Restaurant Group

Est. reading time: 5 mins

A self-described competitive-to-a-fault sort, Alan Nolley Jr. relished his 13 years of litigating for three Bay Area firms. “I viewed it as a chess game even though I never was good at chess,” he says. “But legal chess, I loved it—the thinking on my feet and quick analysis of all angles.” And what interesting cases […]

Julia Tat – Fluor

Est. reading time: 4 mins

Julia Tat went against the grain of her family’s tradition when she became an attorney. Not only are her parents engineers, she has aunts and uncles who are, too—enough to make someone think the field is a genetic trait. Tat, who emigrated with her family from Romania more than 30 years ago, says that while […]

Jana K. Law – Entergy Arkansas

Est. reading time: 4 mins

Renewable and clean energy sources are not a new phenomenon. American inventor Charles Fritts created the first commercial solar panels in the early 1880s. However, as people become more aware of the importance of sustainability and the positive impact of relying on clean energy resources, many companies, especially those in the energy industry, are working […]

Theresa Vreeland – HD Supply

Est. reading time: 5 mins

Her bosses knew what was going on behind the scenes. Not so for Theresa Vreeland, who, four days after joining the HD Supply legal department in October 2020, learned that her employer was being re-acquired by The Home Depot 13 years after spinning it off to private equity. “Should I be looking for something else?” […]

Roger LeBoeuf – Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority

Est. reading time: 4 mins

By the time Roger LeBoeuf joined the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority three years ago, he had already built up a decades-long career in construction law. One moment stands out to him. He was sitting in a deposition where a legal counsel asked a developer about bidding wars among contractors. The developer eventually gave a wry […]

Alex Kiles – Airbnb

Est. reading time: 4 mins

When Alex Kiles joined Airbnb as its policy senior counsel, he knew all about policymaking, having worked on both the House and Senate sides of the Hill. But he hadn’t yet learned all he needed to know. That’s because that was federal policymaking, and state and local policies regulate short-term rentals. “There were two big […]

Patti-Ann Audia – Aisin Holdings of America

Saad Minhas – Equinix

Est. reading time: 4 mins

Though it’s not true that the cloud can be contained in a building the size of a football field, data centers used by cloud service providers are frequently that large.  In the case of Equinix, a provider of digital infrastructure and cloud services and solutions currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, its 250 data centers are […]

I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
– Henry Marquard, in-house counsel, Stanley Consultants Inc.
The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.
– Kevin C. Rakowski, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Compliance with Radian Group Inc.
As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
