Brandon DeBerry – Camping World and Good Sam

Est. reading time: 5 mins

When Brandon DeBerry recently forwarded a routine question to one of the law firms that manages Camping World’s litigation, it didn’t bill for its prompt e-mailed response. Probably a prudent move on its part. Since joining Camping World last year as its head of litigation, DeBerry’s been tracking the economy and the effectiveness of his […]

Shifting from private practice to an in-house legal role at Clearent in 2020 opened new areas of practice for Mary Kate Hogan. Though she’d enjoyed working with a variety of clients and supporting M&A and had a passion for corporate law, she discovered working in-house provides more opportunities, including the chance to know her client […]

Anthony Wilson – Silver Cross Hospital

Est. reading time: 4 mins

“First, do no harm.” Or, as was originally said in Latin, primum non nocere. That part of the Hippocratic Oath sounds simple enough, but modern healthcare is anything but. The most practical means of doing no harm might be through enterprise risk management, says Anthony Wilson, referring to the many variables that affect a healthcare […]

Michael Faris has enjoyed an unconventional career path but it didn’t start that way. In 1990, he earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and finished a federal court clerkship. He then landed a position that many in his trade would have considered a dream job: associate at the global firm of […]

Anyone who’s lived through a bitterly cold winter or a summer heat wave knows the value of good home insulation. In addition to conventional insulation, contractors use spray foam insulation guns to seal edges and prevent drafts. Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Graco makes these and other fluid management products, which include everything from pumps used […]

Joe Miller – Rose Acre Farms

Called eVTOLs for short, they’re not the most elegantly named aircraft, but they’re catching on with investors and pilots. Andrew T. Park – United Airlines

Est. reading time: 5 mins

He’ll acknowledge some reservations about relocating his family from balmy Fort Lauderdale to frigid Chicago in February 2021, but the reasons for Andrew T. Park doing so couldn’t be passed up. “I love learning, and the challenges that naturally arise from working for an airline present so many opportunities to learn,” he tells Vanguard one […]

Jessica Swartz – Western Michigan University

Est. reading time: 4 mins

At Western Michigan University, there wasn’t always a written policy outlining accommodations for students with disabilities. “A lot of professors and supervisors were making decisions on their own and trying to do the right thing, but it caused a lot of issues,” says Jessica Swartz, WMU’s deputy general counsel. In October 2020, a reasonable accommodation […]

As promised in advance, my feature in Vanguard has increased my visibility within the profession and prompted more than a few people I have not communicated with recently to reconnect. One of the Italian law firms I have used in the past is now in the process of interviewing me for an article on their website and tweeting out the feature story. Activity and the number of people connecting with me on LinkedIn has soared, which is great. The Vanguard writers and editorial staff were great to work with—highly professional and made the effort to make the experience both fun and rewarding (they were also respectful of the time pressures and demands all lawyers face). I was very pleased with the experience and the final outcome. Needless to say, I have been very pleased. All in all working with Vanguard has been a very positive experience which generated good publicity for both Shawcor and myself. My sincere thanks.
– Tim Hutzul, General Counsel, ShawCor Ltd.
It was a great honor to be featured in Vanguard Law. Working with every member of the team, from the initial interview with Erin Clark, through production with Victor Martins, writing the article with Taryn Plumb and creating the final content with Dave Gushee, was a true pleasure. Everyone was very professional, enthusiastic and supportive, and their creative approach and positive attitude clearly came through in the final product.
– Kevin C. Rakowski, Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Compliance with Radian Group Inc.
I was honored to be the subject of an article. I enjoy reading Vanguard articles and seeing how other attorneys got to their positions and see their jobs. It's also interesting to see how different law firms partner with the subjects of the articles.
– Henry Marquard, in-house counsel, Stanley Consultants Inc.
The piece highlighting my company, Bob Baker Enterprises, Inc., came out fabulous. Our company is in the new and used car sales and service industry. Everyone was great to work with and extremely professional. They produced a high-quality product and have provided expert assistance and guidance post-production of the article.
– Wade Poulson, General Counsel, Bob Baker Enterprises Inc.
